Itinerary

The flight to Paro crosses the Himalayas, providing breathtaking views of the majestic peaks, including Bhutan's Mount Jumolhari and Jichu Drake. A guide from Bhutan Travelers will meet you upon arrival. Visit the Ta Dzong, a former defensive lookout tower that is now the National Museum, after lunch. The museum contains an extensive collection of antique paintings, armours, philatelic displays, and a "field of Buddhas," which aids in visualisation while meditation. After that, you will visit Kichu Lhakhang, one of the country's oldest and holiest shrines. Overnight motel in Paro.

After breakfast, you can acclimatise to the altitude of the next day's trip by hiking to Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery, Bhutan's most famous monastery, at an elevation of 3,180 metres. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche, a spiritual master from the eighth century, meditated in a cave that is now the site of Taktsang Monastery by flying there on the back of a tigress. It towers over Paro Valley from a precarious stance on a sheer rock face, some 900 metres above ground. You can climb back to Paro after exploring the monastery. You will go for Thimphu this evening and arrive there tonight. A Thimphu hotel for the night.

Beautiful Gynekha village is where the walk begins, and from there you'll make a quick drop to the river. After fording the river, you'll begin ascending to a massive rock outcrop from where you'll enjoy a breathtaking perspective of the valley below. Two hours later, you'll arrive at Gur, a yak pasture just off the main path.

The trail crosses high slopes on the second day, revealing the rough beauty of your surroundings and mountain plants. Wildflower and asparagus meadows line the walk (in spring). The first mountain pass has a massive cairn and offers a stunning view of Kanjenjunga (Sikkim) and several Bhutanese Himalayan peaks. The Dagala mountain range, meadows, and yak herder huts will be visible as you descend the pass. After descending into the Labatama valley, you climb steadily past several yak herder huts to Uthso Tsho. Lakeside campground.

Day 5 :
Labatama

Labatama will be our retreat today. It's perfect for visiting Reli Tsho, Hen Tsho, or Jama Tsho lakes. Trout fishing is good for hikers. Ask your travel operator to secure fishing permits.

Dala Tsho's western flank is climbed to a saddle at 4,520m. Throughout the descent, you'll enjoy a great view of the Himalayas. Everest (Nepal), Kanchenjunga (Sikkim), Jomolhari, Jichu Drake, Tshering Gang, Khangbum, Masang Gang, Tsende Gang, and Gangche Ta are visible. A 4,720m mountain near the saddle offers a fantastic view. The path descends via yak herder homes to Doccha Chhu from the saddle. You follow the river for a while but stay higher on the slope to reach Panka, ascending and descending.

Ascent 260 m, descent 520 m
Camp Altitude: 4,000 m

Start early today. Today, we traverse numerous magnificent passes. Find mountain birds and Blue Poppy variations (June–July). After Tala La (4180m), you descend to Talakha Monastery. Walk through apple orchards and varied vegetation. You'll reach Chamgang's major motorable road (2640m) and meet your vehicle to Thimphu. Thimphu hotel overnight.

Day 8 :
Thimphu

After breakfast, you'll see the King's Memorial Chorten, nunnery temple, traditional paper industry, Tashichhodzong, and the world's largest Buddha Shakymuni statue on a hill overlooking Thimphu. In the afternoon, stroll through Thimphu and observe the locals. Paro evening drive Thimphu hotel overnight.

Day 9 :
Departure

Breakfast in the hotel, then drive to the airport for flight to your onward destination. Tashi Delek!
